Inspired by string (and string pedagogy) study with Marvin Rabin, George Bornoff, Kato Havas and Janet Jensen, Paul Seitz taught public school orchestra for more than a decade in New York State and Wisconsin before returning for doctoral study in composition at the University of Wisconsin (with a doctoral minor in string pedagogy). Compositions by Paul Seitz, for young orchestras, have been chosen for performance by many Middle School and High School Honors and All State Ensembles across the United States, selected four times (including 2017) for student orchestra concerts at Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and are found on solo and ensemble contest lists in many states. Recently, the first concert of the 2014 ASTA National Orchestra Association National Conference, in Louisville, Kentucky, opened with Paul Seitz's composition Iowa Spring (Latham), for example.
