This piece was composed for Duo Hevans, the duo of bass clarinet activist, Henri Bok (Netherlands) and saxophonist Eleri Ann Evans (UK), who have performed it widely, including it in their recital at the 2012 World Saxophone Congress at St. Andrew's, Scotland, and many recitals around the world, as well as in the live concert DVD, In a Nutshell (see recordings page and the excerpted video, below).
The following is taken from the Program Notes for the performance, by Duo Hevans, at the 2012 World Saxophone Congress XVI, in St. Andrew's, Scotland:
"'In a place of deep colour' was the first commissioned piece for Duo Hevans. The lyrical character of Paul Seitz' work is seen here at its best. The perfect blending of the instruments set against their individual characteristics turns this piece into an exploration of unique sound scapes.”
