From the Wood was composed as part of a residency with the Marquette (MI) High School orchestra, Janis Shier Peterson, director. It was premiered by that orchestra and later selected for performance by the nationally recognized Duluth (Georgia) High School Chamber Orchestra (pictured below), Peter Lemonds and Shawn Morton, directors, at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago. The audio excerpt provided here is from their December 19, 2007 performance at the Merle Reskin Theatre.
